2017 Sangiacomo Chardonnay, Old Wente
In the late 1920s, the Sangiacomo Family purchased their first parcel in Sonoma—planted to fruit trees and then to grapes for winemaking. In 1969, the Sangiacomo’s Green Acres Vineyard was partially planted to the original Old Wente clone of Chardonnay. In 1981, Saintsbury partnered with the Sangiacomo family and have since received the fruit from this Old Wente block.
The mixture of vine age and small grape clusters, natural to the Old Wente clone, produce an extremely unique wine now considered our flagship Chardonnay.
Appellation: Carneros, Sonoma
