2019 Vin Gris Of Pinot Noir
VINEYARD: When selecting fruit for our Vin Gris of Pinot Noir, we look to our Carneros vineyards that offer diversity in both aspect and clonal selection. This makes for a well-structured and vibrant rosé.
First Vintage: 1989
Clones: St. Clair, Madonna, Pommard, Swan, Dijon 115, Dijon 777, UCD 23
Terroir: Carneros is known for its loam and clay soils and a mixture of flat land and rolling hillsides, which has the reliable marine fog that rolls in every evening and burns off mid-morning
VINTAGE 2019: An off-season with plentiful rainfall led into a mild spring and warm summer. Mild weather closer to harvest resulted in grapes with bright acidity and ample texture. Harvest: Sep 15th (whole cluster press), Sep 9th – 22nd (saignée) WINEMAKING Whole clusters of Pinot Noir from our Home Ranch vineyard are hand-picked at night and taken directly to press. The juice was pale in color but ethereal in aroma. The saignée components of the blend add depth and juiciness to the mid-palate. 67% whole cluster press and 33% saignée Aging: Stainless steel tanks.
Case Production: 1,090
TASTING NOTES: Guava, nectarine, grapefruit zest and white flowers on nose. Wild strawberry, cantaloupe and blood orange layer the palate, with bright tangy acidity and mineral notes on the finish.
